The Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre (LJAC) provides a dynamic and community owned multi-functional meeting place that encompasses a broad range of activities supporting the arts and the community. Located in Altona, it opened in 2005 and operates as a not for profit organisation. Amongst other things, it provides a venue which supports groups for community activities, an exhibition space for artists, a venue hire for private events, and long term office rental.
Expressions of interest are sought for volunteer board members with substantial legal experience and knowledge. Applicants eligible to apply for appointment as a Board member must have been admitted to legal practice in Victoria for not less than five years. Our aim is for our Board members to possess personal qualities such as integrity, fairness, maturity, sound temperament and commitment to public service.
Appointees also need to be aware of, and sensitive to, the diversity of backgrounds and life experiences at LJAC, and the need to communicate effectively and courteously with all stakeholders. A commitment to the use of technology, participation in ongoing professional education and experience in property management and not for profit organisations will also be viewed favourably.
