Hume Community Housing is a value’s driven, nationally accredited Tier 1 Community Housing Provider with over 1800 properties under management in Western Sydney.

Hume delivers on this vision with the support of a skills based Board. We currently have an opportunity to appoint a skilled Non-Executive Director with financial expertise.

With an annual turnover of over $25m Hume Housing is a modern, sustainable and versatile organisation with capacity to address both customer and business outcomes, including:

  • Enhance the lives of its customers and enable them to maintain sustainable tenancies
  • Innovate and develop new housing and responsive service models which benefit people on lower incomes who are in housing stress;
  • Leverage its assets and undertake property development

As a director at Hume, you will play a critical role alongside other Non-Executive Directors and the Executive Team, in the strategic leadership of the business.

We require the following skills and attributes for this exciting opportunity;

  • Demonstrated expertise in the areas of banking, finance and accounting,
  • Knowledge and experience of governance and risk management,
  • Previous experience in Directorship,
  • Desire and ability to communicate and work collaboratively with other Board members and the Executive Team in a constructive, challenging and supportive manner,
  • Capacity to develop and utilise networks and contacts to increase the organisation's standing and reputation,
  • Be a critical and innovative thinker, not afraid to challenge the status quo,
  • Desire to create a difference in the lives of Hume’s customers and contribute to the positive social impact that Hume strives for.

Our Board members are paid a salary reflective of Hume’s not for profit status, in addition to expense reimbursement. The Board meets 6 times per annum plus additional   sub committee meetings. The Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every 2nd month from 5.30 pm in our offices in Parramatta.

It is anticipated that your commitment will be the equivalent of 1 to 1.5 days per month.
