Volunteer Board Member (Finance)

Sacred Heart Mission is based in St Kilda.  We are a progressive not for profit organisation proactively assisting some of the most disadvantaged people in our community through a range of integrated programs. Since opening our doors in 1982, the Mission has evolved into an innovative organisation, sustained by a deep pool of generosity and support from the community.

Sacred Heart Mission is entering into an exciting and challenging time over the next seven years, as it delivers on its ten year strategic plan. Through participation on the Board, you will have involvement with our talented CEO and Executive team to deliver our $27.3 million dollar capital project, take our Journey to Social Inclusion (J2SI) program to scale across Australia through Social Impact investment finance strategy, alongside delivering our Growth strategy.

  • Role idea for finance CA or CPA qualified candidates seeking to contribute to the greater good
  • We have a stable, effective, multi-disciplinary Board, with an extension induction program and allocated mentor to the successful candidate.

Sacred Heart Mission is seeking candidates for an initial 12 month appointment to the Board, as a future successor to our long serving Treasurer. To join our Board you will be a highly skilled accountant with a minimum of 10 years experience, have a formal accounting qualifications (CPA or CA member), management experience and knowledge of the community service sector.

This role will

  • Attend monthly board meetings
  • Maintain knowledge of the organisation and personal commitment to its goals and objectives
  • Understand financial management and accounting for not for profit organisations
  • Serve on the Finance and infrastructure Working Group which meets each month
  • Participate on the Working Group, to review actions related to the Board's financial management and governance responsibilities in accordance with the Working Group’s terms of reference
