UnitingCare Wesley Bowden seeks a non-executive board member whose strong points include collaboration and the ability to help deliver our current strategic direction.  We are medium sized not for profit organization delivering community based aged care, disability, mental health, carer support, child & family and, social welfare services across Adelaide. 

We are in the midst of significant and exciting challenges that are influenced by the national Aged Care reform and the National Disability Insurance Scheme.  Furthermore governments are realigning their priorities across an array of social welfare programmes including the homelessness/affordable housing and child care sectors.

Adaptability and innovation are keys to our success.

We have clear goals for the future; staying true to our mission to support vulnerable individuals and communities across South Australia, continuing financial sustainability and navigating rapid change. As a Board member you will work with other members and the Executive to set clear direction, measurable targets and ensure excellent governance.

Essential qualities:

  • Ability to actively contribute to strategy and to monitor organisational performance
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and respectfully with other Board members, the CEO and the Executive Team
  • Experience in either operations, business planning or policy at a senior executive level
  • Knowledge of advocacy and government relations
  • Management style aligned to our organisational values


  • Member of AICD (or willingness to join)
  • Understanding of the social and community care sector

Board members must possess outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to raise the profile of UCWB by actively supporting and building relationships with key stakeholders.

Term of appointment will be for three years with a view for extension.  This is a voluntary role.
