World Youth International is a not for profit, non-religious, non-political, international organisation founded by the late Robert Hoey. We believe in the power of volunteers to create real impact and we have facilitated meaningful volunteering opportunities for more than 3,400 Australians of all ages, working in some of the world's poorest communities for more than 29 years.
At the very heart of our mission is a commitment to community-led, sustainable development projects working in the area of women and children's health, education and income generation. Together with our local partners in Kenya and Nepal, we have established the World Youth International School in Nepal and the Community Health Centre in Odede, Kenya.
We are seeking a volunteer Board member with expertise in Fundraising, Marketing and Social Media, preferably based in Adelaide or South Australia, to work with us at a very exciting time for the organisation. This unique opportunity is a voluntary position that will provide the expertise to develop existing and new fundraising initiatives, campaigns and events. The role will also take a lead advisory role in marketing what we do, reviewing the WYI website, related content and social media, to promote our work and the heart and values of our organisation.
WYI's Board of Directors comprises of 5 experienced professionals from a range of backgrounds including international development, community organisations, private sector and business management, legal and financial management. We have a small team of paid employees and we receive no government funding, relying on our volunteers and the generous donations of our community of supporters, to allow our work to continue. You will be joining the team at a time of growth, so a willingness to pitch in and get the job done is a must.
