Non-Executive Director for the SMART Recovery Australia Board

SMART Recovery Australia is seeking two committed, value-oriented Non-Executive Directors. We are looking for people who want to address addiction and mental health issues through harm minimisation and a strength based approach. Your skills and experience should further complement those of the current talented staff and Directors of the team.

SMART Recovery Australia is seeking Directors who are willing to use their own capacity and that of their networks to deliver the strategic aims of the organisation. We are particularly targeting candidates with access to high net worth individuals interested in supporting the sustainable growth of the organisation, demonstrated PR skills, and access to the Alcohol and Other Drugs/mental health sector, business, or government.

The SMART Recovery Board focuses on the strategic oversight of the organisation. It does not undertake the responsibilities of a management board. The organisation may employ the individual skills of individual Directors from time to time, which would be separate to their role on the SMART Recovery Australia Board.

About SMART Recovery Australia

SMART Recovery Australia is a company limited by guarantee and registered as a health promotion charity. SMART Recovery Australia’s vision is to make SMART Recovery accessible to all Australians. Our purpose is to empower Australians with practical skills, tools, and support to manage addictive behaviours. SMART Recovery Australia aims to help people help each other to manage their addictive behaviours for the improvement of health and social well being in the community.

SMART Recovery Australia coordinates over 230 SMART Recovery groups face-to-face and online throughout Australia and New Zealand. The number of groups has doubled in two years, with the organisation experiencing a steady period of growth and increasing professionalism in that time. At present, the organisation needs to increase public awareness and acquire sufficient funds to sustain this rate of growth.
