About us

Midsumma Festival is Victoria's premier queer arts and culture festival, for and by communities who live with shared experiences around diverse gender and sexuality (DGS or LGBTQIA+).   Our aim is to effect positive change for our broad spectrum of communities.  We showcase some of the best talent and nurture new arts and culture through our annual Midsumma Festival, featuring approximately 130 events with around 200,000 attendees annually.  Although the primary festival is held in summer each year, Midsumma works year-round to provide artists, social-changers and culture-makers with support and tools to create, present and promote their work.   With over 30 years of positive impact we are a rich part of Melbourne’s annual cultural calendar.

We are looking for expressions of interest from suitably skilled and interested person for our board of management Treasurer role to assist Midsumma in its next exciting phase of development.  The Midsumma Board of Management provides excellent governance, strategic guidance and networking capabilities for our organisation.  Positions will be formally appointed based on Midsumma Festival’s constitution.

You are:

  • Qualifications and proven experience in accounting, finance and board governance (not for profit or corporate)
  • Passionate about inclusion and diversity
  • Strong at networking and advocating for the LGBTQIA+ communities and are comfortable leveraging your contacts to help fundraising and other support
  • Energetic and engaging with strong community liaison skills

In addition, other desirable characteristics include:

  • Have strong networks within the government, business and /or philanthropy
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in the arts and culture industry
  • Existing networks within government, community sectors, the corporate sector or other relevant advocacy networks.
