Saving Animals from Euthanasia Inc (SAFE Inc) is WA's largest volunteer-based animal rescue and rehoming service. SAFE rehomes thousands of healthy animals every year through its twelve branches and an innovative, low cost foster care model. SAFE Inc is the Western Australian arm of Animal Welfare League Australia.

We are looking for two new board members.

Treasurer

We are looking for an experienced and passionate finance professional to join our Board of Directors in the position of Treasurer. As well as providing oversight and guidance to the strategic direction of SAFE Inc, the Treasurer will play a key role in ensuring the appropriate financial management of our operations and accurate reporting to the Board.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading strategic financial planning and budgeting
  • Reviewing financial systems and making recommendations
  • Ability to analyse and discuss strategically financial performance
  • Managing financial risk
  • Initiating discussions to connect finance and mission
  • Building positive working relationships with directors, employees and the executive
  • Representing SAFE to stakeholders and acting as an ambassador for the organisation

Key Requirements:

  • Able to provide 8-12 hours of your time per month
  • Possess high levels of communication and engagement
  • Able to prepare for and attend Quarterly Board Meetings and AGM
  • Qualifications and experience in accounting and finance
  • An interest and passion for animal welfare
  • Previous board / governance experience is desirable but not essential

General Board Member (legal experience)

We are looking for an experienced and passionate legal professional to join our Board of Directors and play a key role in ensuring the organisation is compliant with its legal responsibilities and has effective systems of governance and risk management in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the board of directors to understand legal and contractual risks and mitigating those risks
  • Providing advice in respect of SAFE’s legal obligations
  • Providing effective representation in legal negotiations and liaisons with members and key external stakeholders

Key Requirements:

  • Able to provide 8-12 hours of your time per month
  • Possess high levels of communication and engagement
  • Able to prepare for and attend Quarterly Board Meetings and AGM
  • Qualifications and experience in corporate law and governance
  • An interest and passion for animal welfare
