Physical Disability Australia (PDA) has a vacancy on its Board of Directors for a person with a physical disability who lives in Queensland.

About PDA

PDA is a national peak membership-based representative organisation run by people with physical disability for people with physical disability. PDA was founded 21 years ago. We have over 1,000 members from all Australian States and Territories. Our purpose is to:

  • Remove barriers by encouraging all levels of government to enable and provide every Australian living with a physical disability with opportunities to realise their full potential;
  • Proactively embrace and promote difference and diversity for an inclusive society; and
  • Include within all our operations the active promotion of the rights, responsibilities, issues and participation of people with a physical disability.

About the Role

Being a PDA Director is not an onerous responsibility. All we ask is:

  • You attend scheduled Board of Directors meetings every 2 months (by teleconference)
  • You attend annual face-to-face meetings (paid for by PDA)
  • You provide input into the work of PDA (as requested by fellow Directors and the PDA Manager)
  • You respond promptly to PDA emails as required; and
  • You promote the organisation and its work in your state or territory

Appointments to the Board of Directors  are for an initial 3 year period with the potential for a further 2 3-year terms.

There is no financial risk in being a PDA Director. The organisation is a Company Limited by Guarantee and is registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and the Australian Charities and Not-for Profits Commission (ACNC).
