GalleriesWest is a newly formed member organisation (incorporated in 2018) to act as an independent policy and advocacy body representing Western Australian public galleries. GalleriesWest believes that public galleries play a vital and integral role in providing Western Australians and visitors with access to the best possible visual arts experiences.

We seek a Chairperson with expertise - either current or past - within the Western Australian public galleries sector.

Ideally, this person will have the available time and resources to generously invest in further developing the organisation alongside a team of passionate public gallery advocates from across the state's diverse and widespread sector.

An applicant with proven leadership skills, experience in 'start ups' plus advocacy at all levels of government and private sector is desirable.

To create a cohesive and integrated network of professional and voluntary public galleries across WA delivering relevant, varied and accessible visual arts experiences for both community members and visitors.

To be an effective advocate for the important contribution of public galleries to contemporary Australia and the benefits they bring to WA’s creative, social, cultural and economic ecologies.
