The day-long Practical Impact Conference saw community directors from across Australia converge on Our Community House in early June.
Delegates learned practical tips and tools for measuring their impact from an impressive bill of speakers, including economics expert Nicholas Gruen and data guru Andrew Means.
The conference was a highlight so far of the Festival of Community Directors, which is now into its fifth month.
Speaking at the #PracticalImpact conference in Melbourne, economist @ngruen1 interrogates the failed policies of successive governments, in which there's a huge gap between the intention and the outcomes. Or as he puts it "the arteries are willing, but the capillaries are weak". pic.twitter.com/MUpWdnEm1Y— Community Directors (@NFPdirectors) June 3, 2019

The first week of May was enormous, with Brett de Hoedt from Hootville bringing his communications expertise to the Festival of Community Directors. Brett released a swag of valuable communications-related resources (available here) and wrote a number of articles for the Community Directors Intelligence newsletter (available here).
The Institute of Community Directors held a half-day training session in Brisbane aimed at improving school governance. If you were unable to attend the session but would be interested in learning more, contact email@example.com for details of our tailored training sessions (minimum 10 people).
Following the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, every community organisation needs to consider whether it has a genuine culture of child safety. The Royal Commission exposed systemic failures by some of largest not-for-profits in preventing and responding to child abuse. In mid-June, ICDA partnered with Moores to run a new webinar aimed at helping not-for-profits to run effective child safety investigations. If you'd like to purchase a recording of the webinar (just $65), email firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are plenty of events and activities happening over the next few months.
