The Butterfly Effect:
Small Changes,
Big Impacts

Moonee Valley Racecourse, Melbourne
Monday, 6 March 2017
9 am - 5 pm

There's nothing quite like standing shoulder to shoulder and working for a cause. But if your board's not working well the whole thing can start to feel too hard, too painful. Sometimes just a small tweak can create enormous change. But how do you know where to focus? At Board Builder 2017 you'll hear solutions to some of the problems that plague not-for-profit boards, and learn how to clear a path to greater impact.

This is the Board Builder Conference designed BY the people FOR the people!

We surveyed Institute of Community Directors Australia members and asked them what they wanted to learn about at the 2017 Board Builder. Thanks to all who responded, we have designed what we think is the best Board Builder Conference program yet!

Appalled by bad board behaviour and at your wits' end about how to manage it? We have the answers for you!

You told us financial stress is stressing you out - sign up to learn about fundraising, risk management and the financial indicators to watch out for.

You want to know about data and what it can do for you - you got it!

You want the opportunity to network and share your stories - it's on the program!

2017 International guest speaker

Andrew Means

Andrew Means knows how to use the new tools at our disposal to create change without baffling us with lofty concepts or burying us in jargon.

The American-based data scientist is one of a small but growing breed of social sector data scientists who are working to ensure that community based organisations are not left behind in the march to activate new tools to create insights and inform decision making.

Andrew is Head of beyond.uptake, the philanthropic and civic innovation arm of Uptake, and Co-Founder at The Impact Lab.

He has previously held leadership positions at The University of Chicago's Center for Data Science & Public Policy, Groupon, and the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago. He holds a Master in Public Policy from the Harris School at the University of Chicago.

Andrew is a member of the Board of Directors at Ingenuity Inc. (so he knows your painpoints first-hand) and an advisor of Markets for Good. His Data Conversations podcast is a must-listen for data nerds.

Delivering the conference's opening keynote, Andrew will highlight how board directors can lead their organisations confidently into a new era.
