The NFP Coaching and Mentoring Program teams new and aspiring leaders from the not-for-profit sector with experienced leaders. Coaching and mentoring are different processes but the needs of leaders can often lie within the intersection and alignment of both. This program has been designed to provide skills and knowledge development through coaching, alongside personal development through mentoring.
What is Coaching?
Coaching matches a participant with a content expert who assists the participant through a learning process. The primary focus of coaching is professional development.
Coaches can help you learn new or improve your skills in areas such managing more effectively, speaking more articulately, or learning how to think strategically. Your coach will be a content expert with expertise and experience in the areas of need you identify.
What is Mentoring?
Great mentoring means a great relationship between you and your mentor.
The mentoring process provides guidance on both professional and personal development aspects. A mentor provides a safe environment where you can share whatever critical issues affect your professional and personal success.
The focus of mentoring goes beyond acquiring professional skills to include more personal needs. This might include attaining a better work/life balance, self-confidence, self-perception, and understanding how the personal influences the professional.
