Connect your community

How to better connect with your community

Strong social connections and the ability to act strategically and in concert with others are perhaps the biggest capabilities that a not-for-profit can seek to harness.

And, as leaders of those organisations you are in a unique position to make that happen, with our help.

Recently, we’ve seen many more reports about the wave of loneliness spreading across our country, and at the Institute of Community Directors we know community organisations can be part of the cure, and so much more.

In the special edition of Community Directors Intelligence we produced on the issue, Our Community’s group managing director Denis Moriarty explained why that’s the case, to anchor  these articles and resources revolving around the power of connection.

On that theme, we examine:

  • the special powers of the “social connectors” in your community
  • the role that community radio can play – as well as its lessons for governance
  • what can be done to arrest the “free fall” in volunteers wanting to step up into leadership roles
  • draw lessons from the culture shock that’s rocked the cricket world
  • the lessons from the national apology to child abuse survivors
  • new resources for community directors.

To read everything we've produced, to stay up-to-date with new research, and to gain access to all of our help sheets, back issues and discounted courses, become a member of ICDA now.
