The Not-for-profit Agenda (Webinar)

Date: 03 Apr 2025

Matt Greg NFP Agenda April2024
The Not-for-profit Agenda is hosted by senior ICDA media team members: Community Directors Intelligence editor Matthew Schulz and Community Advocate editor Greg Thom.

Straight-shooting Senate candidate Fiona Patten will headline the pre-poll edition of the Not-for-profit Agenda, with the webinar to be shown live and free from ICDA headquarters on Thursday, April 3.

Fiona Patten
Legalise Cannabis Party candidate Fiona Patten

Patten made her name as the leader of the Australian Sex Party – later renamed Reason Australia – during an eight-year stint in Victoria’s Parliament in which she spurred on a number of major social reforms. This year she will stand in the federal election as a Senate candidate for the Legalise Cannabis Party.

She returns to the fray after successfully battling three types of cancer and winning a string of political victories affecting voluntary assisted dying, decriminalisation of sex work, criminal records reform, legalising ride sharing, and safe access zones near women’s reproductive health clinics.

The former MLC is a canny and principled political operator who will bring an insider’s understanding of the federal poll, and her appearance should not be missed.

The one-hour webinar will also feature exclusive video interviews from the sector’s most influential political watchers, with their insights into what we can expect from a future government. They include:

  • Cassandra Goldie, chief executive of the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS)
  • Emma Dawson, chief executive of progressive economics think tank Per Capita
  • Kasy Chambers and Maiy Azize, executive director and deputy director, respectively, of Anglicare Australia
  • Peter Lewis, director, Essential Media
  • Josie Lee, advocacy and policy lead, Oxfam
  • David Gilchrist, professor and economist at the University of Western Australia’s Centre for Public Value
  • Helen Hodgson, tax reform expert at Curtin University and former WA Democrats MLC
  • Terese Edwards, CEO of Single Mother Families Australia

What's a Webinar?

A Webinar is a seminar that's conducted over the internet.

Viewers watch a remote presentation on their own screens at a set broadcast time and can participate by typing and submitting questions they would like answered by the presenter.

Our Webinars are recorded and a copy is sent out to every registrant by default. So if you aren't able to watch the Webinar live at the scheduled time, you don't need to do anything - we'll send you a copy you can watch at your own pace on your own screen.

Why Webinars work

You can ask your burning questions
Our Webinars include a 45-minute presentation followed by a 15 minute interactive Q&A session where you'll call the shots. You do so by typing your questions during the Webinar.
