Who really has time for strategic planning? There is so much going on within our organisations that demands our attention. It's tempting to leave strategic planning languishing on the back burner.
But strategic planning shouldn't be an afterthought. Decisions we make in today's board meetings will reach well into our future. In the absence of a clear strategic plan, its unlikely to be a well-informed decision-making process. If you're not forward planning, the future may not thank you!
At this training, we'll cover:
- components of an effective strategic plan
- the interplay between board strategic planning and day-to-day operations
- strategic planning in the context of organisational effectiveness
- establishing SMART objectives with measurable metrics
- environment scanning for better strategic planning
This 3-hour online session costs $189 (member price) and will be held Wednesday, 10 March 2027 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. This session is not recorded. Live attendance is required.

Jon Staley | Trainer, governance and community leadership
BA (Hons), DipEd, Certificate IV (Training and Assessment), Dip Gov, FICDA
Jon has a background as a teacher, trainer, social entrepreneur, filmmaker and writer. He began his career teaching at Melbourne's Northland Secondary College, where in 2000 he was awarded the Peter Clarke Teaching for Reconciliation Award based on his work with the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community at the school.
