Board wellbeing reporting pack

This pack is designed to help not-for-profit and community boards keep track of staff and volunteer wellbeing without creating unnecessary paperwork. It has two tools:

1. Board reporting checklist: wellbeing
A full list of issues you may need to report to the board. Use this when preparing board papers to make sure you don’t miss anything important. Not every item will apply every time.

2. Wellbeing update – board papers template
A one-page template to include as a standing agenda item in board papers. It gives the board a snapshot of what’s happening and highlights where decisions or support are needed.

Tips for use

  • Keep it simple. Only report what matters for good governance and decision-making.
  • Confidentiality matters. Do not share personal health information without consent.
  • Tailor to your size and resources. Some smaller organisations may only fill out a few items at each meeting.
  • Make it routine. Add the one-page template as a regular agenda item so wellbeing gets consistent attention.
  • Focus on action. Use the “Board action” section to flag decisions, approvals, or support needed.
