With over 60,000 charities, the Australian not-for-profit (NFP) sector plays a vital role in supporting communities. But many of these organisations struggle with limited resources and a heavy administrative burden. Generative AI (gen AI) can help ease these pressures, giving organisations more time for the work that really counts.
This is a simple how-to guide to give workers and volunteers in the NFP sector the tools and insights they need to use gen AI effectively and responsibly in their NFP. It is an end-to-end guide to help organisations launch their first gen AI pilot to improve productivity, strengthen services, and increase impact.
The guide comes in two versions: one for leaders and one for team members.
This guide is the result of a collaborative effort between the Institute of Community Directors Australia (ICDA) and McKinsey & Company, with contributions informed by McKinsey’s management consulting expertise. McKinsey’s role as a knowledge partner in this collaboration is advisory in nature, and does not replace the management or decision-making responsibilities of ICDA or any other organisation.
