Scholarship available: Governance training for CEOs working with boards
Scholarships for the Diploma of Governance available for CEOs
Most CEOs are expected to manage governance. Very few have ever been trained to do it.
That's why we've created the CEO Round of the ICDA Diploma of Governance Scholarships. Applications are now open.
What's on offer?
These $1,000 scholarships allow prospective students to apply immediately for any of the below rounds, with decisions made on eligibility within 10 business days of submission.
While applications are rolling – and will remain open throughout the year – places in diploma courses are strictly limited, and scholarships are subject to terms and conditions.
The full cost of the Diploma is $4,999, comprising enrolment, assessment and administration. Scholarship recipients will need to arrange payment of the remaining fee of $3,999.
The part of the CEO role no one really prepares you for
Working with a board can be one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
It can also be one of the most complex.
You may be dealing with:
- unclear roles and responsibilities
- decisions that take longer than they should
- differing expectations between board and management
- governance requirements that keep shifting
And when something goes wrong, it rarely stops at the boardroom. It tends to land with the CEO.
Governance isn’t just a board responsibility
As CEO, you’re not just working alongside governance — you’re part of it.
Not in a theoretical, “nice to understand” kind of way.
In a very real, very practical sense.
It shows up in decisions, in risk, and in the moments when things don’t go to plan.
A governance course designed for the not-for-profit sector, and for CEOs
The Diploma of Governance is built for people who are already working in and around boards.
It’s practical, grounded in real-world scenarios, and focused on what actually happens, not what textbooks say should happen.
What you’ll gain:
- A clearer understanding of how boards operate in practice
- Tools to manage governance risk with confidence
- Strategies for working effectively with your board
- A stronger sense of where responsibility sits — and how to navigate it
